Blogger was down - yes it was sad, but really!

I just wanted to take a quick moment out of my day to comment about the time when blogger was down.  WOW - sooooooooo many people who are using a FREE service to interface with hundreds of people, most of which are ALSO using a FREE service, are complaining about a lag time of - according to a number of others, 20.5 hours.  REALLY - you clocked the time the service was down??????
A service that we enjoy at absolutely NO COST.

I have to admit that I was sad that blogger was down, because wanted to work on my blog -and because, well I personally have no real life - apparently I am not the only one - but I used the time to catch up on my google reader - READ some books, and actually enjoy some GUILT FREE time away from my book blog.

So....what I am trying to say is THANK YOU BLOGGER for providing a place for people like me to spend loads of time!

I LOVE my blog - I love that I get to talk to other readers and authors about reading and books.  I love that I get to hear about books; new, old, and in between that have made an impact in some way on someones life.  I am so excited that I have be fortunate enough to meet some crazy and amazing people in the blog world.  I am thrilled to have a stack of books that I have won or gotten for review - directly from blogs and bloggers.

You make some very good points-I have used Blogger for about 2 years-never paid anything-this is the only down time of more than 5 minutes I am aware of in that period-by contrast my internet service is normally down 5+ hours a week and I pay for that-plus Bloggers keeps getting better-

Great post. You are so right. Blogger is an excellent service. And free, as you pointed out. Can't complain about a little downtime.

Blogger is actually one of the most reliable free servers. I pay for Livejournal and they usually have a period of time when they are down for several days.

LOL I must say, I actually had a little guilt free time away from the blog too. Sometimes you KNOW you gotta put some work in there, but just aren't up to it!

People need to chill............but!!! I don't like the missing comments:)

I was only mildly irritated and that was because I had a guest post due up on Friday and I was afraid I wouldn't get it posted. But I did mention to several people that I have been using Blogger for almost two years and have never had any major problems. Yes, we are lucky that we have use of such an awesome platform for free. I couldn't believe how many people decided to switch to Wordpress because of it!

My main irritation wasn't that it was down...all services experience down-time or outages of some sort sometimes. But, I didn't appreciate them announcing on the help site that "Blogger is back!" when some of us weren't. Then when mine finally did reappear, it was annoying that one post is still MIA even though the rest came back just fine and all the comments from late Wed to Friday are gone. Better communication about the state of things would go a long way.
