Welcome to The Wormhole and my day on the tour!
It is with great pleasure that I present Cat Kalen and Pride's Run!
? When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I was always an avid reader but hadn’t thought about writing until later in life. I went to university and completed a Business Degree. I started working in the finance department for Environment Canada, but it was after my hubby was posted up North (population 800) and I ran out of books that I first tried my hand at writing.
? How many jobs did you have before you became a writer?
I worked many part time jobs when I was in university but my first real job was with Environment Canada. Once I left that and became a full time writer I never looked back.
? How long does it take you to write a book?
It varies, but I’d say around 6 months. I think the hardest part is coming up with a high concept, unique idea. Once I have that and have it all plotted out it’s off to the races.
? What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?
Hmm, not sure, perhaps it’s the four hundred sticky notes I have everywhere so I don’t forget things, but then I can never find the right note when I need it.
? Do you have a routine that you use to get into the right frame of mind to write?
After I see the kids of in the morning, I work out, shower, eat and then hit the computer. I write from appx 10 am to 4 pm.
? Where do you get your ideas or inspiration for your characters?
Ideas come from all over. An overheard conversation (yes I eavesdrop all the time) television, commercials, newspapers, dreams…
? How do you decide what you want to write about?
When a character really speaks to me, I know I need to tell their story.
? What books have most influenced your life?
To Kill a Mockingbird, Lord of the Flies and Catcher in the Rye . These books totally kidnapped me!
? What is the first book you remember reading by yourself?
Goodness, I can’t even remember what I had for dinner last night. LOL.
? What are you reading right now?
I’m reading fins are forever Tera Lynn Childs
? What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I love reading, gardening, walking and going to the movies. I love going out for dinner and drinks with friends. I love to watch my son play soccer, to bake or shop with my daughter and in the evenings the think I like to do most is hang out with my hubby..
? What is your favorite comfort food?
Chocolate brownies…Yummy.
? What do you think makes a good story?
Likeable characters that I care about and can root for!
? Who would you consider your favorite author and why?
Honestly, I have so many and it changes all the time. Right now I do love Suzanne Collins and her Hunger Games series. I can’t wait for the movie!
? What book, if any, do you read over and over again?
Hunger Games!

Kept leashed in the cellar by a master who is as ruthless as he is powerful, Pride dreams of freedom, of living a normal life, but escape from the compound is near impossible and disobedience comes with a price.
When she learns her master intends to breed her she knows she has to run.
But Pride soon learns that if she is to survive in the wild, she must trust in the boy who promises her freedom, the same boy she was sent to hunt.
With life and death hanging in the balance the two find themselves on the run from the Paranormal Task Force—officers who shoot first and ask questions later—as well as her master’s handlers.
Can Pride flee the man who has held her captive since birth and find sanctuary in the arms of a boy who has captured her heart? Or will her master find her first?
