Review: Christmas with a Vampire

Christmas with a Vampire:

A Christmas Kiss\The Vampire Who Stole Christmas\Sundown\Nothing Says Christmas Like a Vampire\Unwrapped

Amazon Product Description:
Prepare for an exhilarating journey across the boundary of death into a shadowy, daring new world. As darkness falls on another year, five fanged rebels are ready to celebrate like never before.
It's a time for bloodlust and stolen kisses, for clandestine bites and forming new bonds beneath the mistletoe. Succumb to the forbidden as these powerful vampires give you a Christmas you'll never forget….
My thoughts:
This was a great read!  I enjoyed each story very much.  I found myself falling in love with the characters from the start of each new story.  I kept thinking, "Oooh, this one is my favorite!" and then I would turn to the next one, fall in love with those characters and think that about that again.
I love vampire stories but had never read anything by any of these authors so I was excited to read "new to me" authors.  (I am still trying to decide who I think is on the cover).  Each short story is an original, fairly powerful love story and are all well written.

A Christmas Kiss by Merline Lovelace: Great characters, twisty plot.
The Vampire Who Stole Christmas by Lori Devoti: Super great characters! Multifaceted theme - revenge, need, desire, self worth and the meaning of love.
Sundown by Linda Winstead Jones: Great characters.  Connected with Abby (I've worked in the bar industry for over 20 years!) and fell in love with Leo.  New spin on vampire powers that was refreshing.
Nothing Says Christmas Like a Vampire by Lisa Childs: Super story.  This one had me from the go.  Intriguing family ties, great characters and the invincibility of true love.  Don't miss it.
Unwrapped by Bonnie Vanak: Wonderful characters, new look at the vampire/werewolf battle.  Long lost love, opposing families, treachery, hope...it's all here.  (and I LOVE the ugly doll bit!)
A must read for vampire fans!

Once again I have been MIA for a few days - Sorry!

Blog Tour: Immortalis Series by Katie Salidas (and a chance to enter two giveaways!)

This Virtual Book Tour is presented by Bewitching Book Tours.
You can see the entire tour schedule by clicking HERE.
Welcome to The Wormhole and my day on the tour!
It is my great pleasure to feature a guest post from author
Katie Salidas!
First off, I’d like to say thank you for having me and Alyssa here today.
For those of you who don’t know Alyssa, she’s a very young vampire.
She debuted the story of her transformation in Immortalis Carpe Noctem
and was again in Hunters and Prey.
She is again the main character of my latest release,
Book three in the Immortalis Series
Pandora’s Box.
"Alyssa, can you please step forward and tell us a little something about yourself?" A petite woman, with a long mane of straight auburn hair, stands up from a folding chair. "Yeah, sure, no problem Kate," She says with a smile, flashing her brilliant white teeth. Her tiny fangs, poke out just a little, reminding me of what she truly is. In one graceful blur of motion, she joins me at the makeshift podium. "Um Alyssa, its Katie, not Kate," I cautiously remind her.
Her twilight, blue-grey eyes meet mine. I quickly look away, not wanting to be mesmerized by her stare. "Sorry," she says cheerfully. "I was just trying to give you a pet name. You know, a term of endearment." She finishes with a little snort of a laugh.
I shudder for a second. I don't want to be any vampires, pet.
"Anyway," Alyssa turns to face the crowd. "I'm Alyssa... but then you already know
that. I am, or was twenty-five when I was turned. Oh yeah, and I'm a vampire...but...you probably know that already too." She fumbles nervously with her fingers and looks down at her feet. “Wow..Uhh...Um... I feel so unprepared for this. I don't know what else to say. I'm not really used to being the center of attention, unless Nicholas is making me the butt if his jokes. He's a bit of a jerk," she adds with a nervous laugh.
“Why don’t you talk about your clan?” I suggest.
She blinks a few times, takes a deep breath, and focuses again on the crowd. "Okay. I can do that. So, I was turned by Lysander. He's my, um, Mate. That's the term most vampire's I've met, use to describe the person they are with. It seems words like: boyfriend, fiancĂ©, or Husband, aren't really part of their vocabulary. Weird, I know. I guess he could also be called my master or my maker, I don't know about you, but those words just don't sit right with me. He's a pretty good guy though, once you get past the over protectiveness."
Alyssa chews on her nails for a moment, as if trying to figure out what to say next.
"I’m not sure what to talk about here. Maybe I'll just let you guys tell me what you want to know. Ask me anything. As long as it doesn't involve me giving away too many secrets, I'll be happy to answer. So tell me, what would you like to know about me?"
Beverly asks:  “What’s it like? You know, being a vampire.”
“Uh, well…Not much different from regular life. Diet kind of sucks, and I won’t be getting a tan anytime soon, but it has its perks.”
Beverly asks: “Okay. What are the perks?”
“Well, my sire, Lysander. The guy who turned me. He is pretty hot. Imagine the statue of David coming to life: tall, dark messy hair, perfect muscles, gorgeous eyes… and all mine.” Alyssa giggles. “Besides that there’s the usual,” she said, flippantly waving her hand in the air. “Strength, speed, ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound… Oh, wait, that’s Superman.” Alyssa winks at the crowd.
Beverly asks: “So, Alyssa – as a vampire you now have new abilities such as speed, heightened senses, strength, etc. Which do you like the best?”
“Hmmm, well, since I still haven’t mastered mind reading I’d have to say a close second would be, hypnosis. I love to play with that ability. This one time I had a guy come after me with a knife and I stopped him dead in his tracks. Then I made him take the knife and…” Alyssa is interrupted by the sound of Katie clearing her throat.
“Oh, um, Sorry.” Alyssa looks at Katie with a sheepish grin. “Next question please.”
Beverly asks: “How do you feel about no longer being human? Was it much of
an adjustment?”
Alyssa ponders the question a little before responding. “Well, I like the idea of immortality. As my friend, Crystal likes to say, it’s the best anti-wrinkle remedy out there.” She gives a little chuckle. “Seriously though, I like being a vampire, it’s fun for the most part to have  such power and know I am not
going to die anytime soon. The hardest thing about the whole, vampire thing is the bloodlust. I can smell a mortal from quite a distance, and let me tell you, it’s a great scent.” She closes her eyes as a serene smile crosses her face. A pleasurable sigh escapes her lips as her tongue traces the edges of her fangs. “Think of it like smelling fresh baked cookies, or homemade apple pie. It’s really hard to resist such a sweet, warm, inviting scent.” She blinks her eyes and shakes her head, before focusing back on the audience. “Controlling my natural instincts, in order to not mistakenly harm an innocent person is no easy task. That’s the hardest part in all of this. I would hate to make a mistake again and accidentally kill another innocent. The other minor inconveniences are tolerable. I was always more of a night person anyway. I mean, I can always get a spray tan if I want to appear like I’ve been in the sun.”
Beverly asks:  “How many people have you killed?”
“I’m not answering that. That’s a loaded question, like when a chick asks her boyfriend how many girls he’s slept with. Next question please.”
Beverly asks: “How often do you go out for blood… er a drinks?"
“That’s a little better. In the beginning, I had to, um…snack,” she giggles, “every night. Now, I can go a few days without needing blood. I’ve seen some of the older ones go more than a month without having to drink.”
Beverly asks:  “So what else can you tell me? How about, weaknesses. Let’s say I needed to kill you. What is it? Garlic, stakes through the heart, holy water?”
“Right.” Alyssa laughs. “With that line of questioning, you think I’m going to tell you? Let’s just leave it at, none of the above, for now.”
Beverly asks: Fair enough. Moving on… So, Alyssa, now that you're a vampire, do you still care about ordinary entertainment? Playing games, dancing?”
“Yeah, we’re just like you.” She winks. “I love movies, video games, and gambling. Just not going to clubs. I had a really bad experience last time I was dragged out to go dancing. I’m not doing that again. But, yeah, were still into all the same kinds of things we enjoyed in our mortal life. I’ve been trying to convince Lysander to get me a Wii..” Alyssa makes an odd hand swinging motions as if she is holding a remote control. “And I just can’t wait to see the second part of that vampire movie, what’s it called, Breaking Dawn? It’s always funny to see how Hollywood portrays your kind. Maybe Katie will let me give you a vampire’s review of it.” Alyssa giggles.  “Guess my time is up. It’s been so fun talking with all of you. I hope to see you again.”

Farsighted by Emlyn Chand
Alex Kosmitoras’s life has never been easy. The only other student who will talk to him is the school bully, his parents are dead-broke and insanely overprotective, and to complicate matters even more, he’s blind. Just when he thinks he’ll never have a shot at a normal life, a new girl from India moves into town. Simmi is smart, nice, and actually wants to be friends with Alex. Plus she smells like an Almond Joy bar. Yes, sophomore year might not be so bad after all.
Unfortunately, Alex is in store for another new arrival—an unexpected and often embarrassing ability to “see” the future. Try as he may, Alex is unable to ignore his visions, especially when they begin to suggest that Simmi is in danger. With the help of the mysterious psychic next door and new friends who come bearing gifts of their own, Alex must embark on a journey to change his future.

About the Author:
From an early age, Emlyn Chand has counted books among her best friends. She loves to hear and tell stories and emerged from the womb with a fountain pen grasped firmly in her left hand (true story). Her affinity for the written word extends to absolutely every area of her life: she has written two-and-a-half novels, leads a classics book group with over three hundred members, and, of course, runs the whole shebang at Novel Publicity, where she contributes her business and marketing savvy as well as her writing and web design talents.
The book that changed Emlyn’s life is Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crocket Johnson. It opened her eyes to the world that could exist if only she was willing to create it—a lesson she has never forgotten. She now reads an average of one book per week. While she enjoys all types of novels, her greatest loves are literary fiction and YA.

Kiss and Tell Blog Tour: Marilu Mann

This 9 day, 9 author virtual book tour is presented by Bewitching Book Tours.
You can see the tour schedule by clicking HERE.
Welcome to The Wormhole and the Kiss and Tell Tour.
I am pleased to bring you Marilu Mann.

Marilu Mann brings the steaminess of the Louisiana bayous to her books and she doesn't stop there. Marilu's willing to travel to the frozen tundra of Wisconsin to heat up those northern nights and melt a little snow.
She'll also circle the world to Wales, Ireland, Scotland and back just to bring you books that make you sweat.

Currently residing in Texas, Marilu is an avid armchair traveler. Her sexy shifters will set your blood to boiling in no time. Owned by one Diva Teen and various animals, Marilu keeps busy writing the novels her readers beg for.  Marilu Mann is a team of two authors. :)

Changing Focus by Marilu Mann
Reluctant to be a Pack Alpha, Micah Keeps Vigil has no hesitation about what he wants in a mate. A strong, intelligent, passionate and, most importantly, shifter female. He’s found her in photojournalist Olivia. She’s come to Micah’s lodge to write about winter sports.

Olivia isn’t expecting a gorgeous man who encourages her wilder nature with a sizzling erotic encounter in her room. Nor does she anticipate the amount of steam they generate in the sauna. With Micah’s hot body and Olivia’s innate sensuality they generate enough heat to melt the snow around the lodge.

One problem—Olivia isn’t aware she’s a shifter. She believes her vivid dreams are just that—dreams—and that her blackouts can be controlled with medication. There’s no way she’s been running through the woods on four feet! Micah has to convince Olivia to accept herself—paws and all—or lose her forever.

...read on for a little taste of what you'll find in this book...
“What size are you?”

“Excuse me?” She bristled immediately. He moved closer, touching her shoulder.

“You’ll need warmer clothes, specifically long underwear. I keep a stock here for all my guests, there’s a closet full on the second floor. You’ll need to find your size and dress in layers. It’s the key to keeping your body temperature regulated in extremely cold weather.”

“Oh.” Smiling sheepishly, she met his eyes again. “A medium¬—unless they run big. Then I take a small.”

“I’ll let you decide.” He slid his hand down her arm, squeezed her hand then released her to lead the way out of the kitchen and up the main staircase. Olivia couldn’t help but watch him move. He was the most graceful man she’d ever seen in her life. And the way his jeans hugged his butt had to be nearly criminal.

“Here’s the closet.” He opened a door and stepped aside. She moved forward into the walk–in closet and laughed. It looked as though it held every possible color and size of long underwear. Each shelf was neatly labeled with the sizes it contained.

She glanced to the other side and laughed again. Those shelves held bathrobes and bathing suits. Men’s, women’s and even a few children’s sizes graced the shelves here. Vibrant colors and enough variety of styles to satisfy even the most hard–to–please customer.

“Bathing suits?” She tipped her head back at him.

Micah nodded. “Some people don’t realize we have a sauna and whirlpool. When they come for the winter, they’re pleasantly surprised, but usually unprepared. Of course, I have no objection to nudity in the sauna. It just depends on who else is here at the time and what their feelings are. I’m sure you’d look good in nothing.”

Olivia’s breath jumped out on a gasp. Had he really said that? He reached around her and pulled a couple of neatly packaged sets of long underwear off the shelf. “Try these. Just leave the ones that don’t fit in your room and I’ll take care of them later.”

Leading the way back out of the closet and down the hall toward her room, he spoke over his shoulder to her. “I’m going to go upstairs and finish dressing. I’ll meet you in the main room in thirty minutes.”

“Micah?” When he turned, she smiled. “Thank you.”

“My pleasure. Remember, layers. The long underwear, cotton, wool or flannel shirt and pants if you have them, at least two pair of socks, wool is best. I have hats, gloves and scarves downstairs in another closet.”

“You really are prepared, aren’t you?”

“I try to be.” He nodded at her again then turned and moved quickly up the stairs leading to the third floor. Olivia entered her room, the packages of long underwear clasped to her chest.
